Worldwide Phone Traffic Clusters
You can retrieve networks of specific years as Pdf files by clicking on the image!
Note: Only 40 percent of the highest phone-call traffic (more than 58 500 phone-call minutes, respective the 3rd quintile of the rank-ordered distribution in the European network in 2010) are depicted. The thickness of arrows is proportional to the phone traffic from the country where the arrow starts to the country where the arrow ends. The size of European country nodes is proportional to a total of incoming and outgoing phone traffic in that country. The size of arrows and nodes is directly comparable across the years. The community detection algorithm used is based on modularities (with a 1.5 resolution factor). Different colors represent different network components extracted by this analysis. Click on the map to see the legend of components for every single year.
